Mark your calendars: The First Descendant, the much-anticipated third-person online co-op looter shooter, is set to make its debut on PS4 and PS5 next week. To fuel the excitement, Nexon Games has dropped fresh trailers accompanied by a sneak peek of the perks exclusive to the PS5 version.

Players are in for a thrilling ride - they'll transform into a Descendant, acquiring mysterious powers and tasked with a noble cause: ensuring the safety of their homeland, the continent of Ingris. The enemy? A merciless legion of alien invaders.

Here's an overview of the gameplay trailer and the game details we can expect from The First Descendant on its July 2, 2024, launch.

The First Descendant gameplay trailer and game details

Thanks to the Unreal Engine 5's power, The First Descendant brings forth an immersive experience of a next-generation looter shooter, with a keen focus on the fun aspects of grinding for growth. It's not just a game, it's an adventure where players can gather unique characters, firearms with distinctive effects, boosting exterior components of character and skill performance, and modules to refine their characters and weapons. All these elements contribute to the challenge of crafting your own unique build.

The game's debut will mark the introduction of five brand new fields that have remained shrouded in mystery until now. Plus, for the first time, players can look forward to 16 types of fresh end-game content referred to as Instance Dungeons. Not to forget the 16 types of Void Intercept Battles, a thrilling large boss raid and a definite game highlight.

But that's not all. Central to the game, the Descendants are an exciting addition to the roster. A total of 19 Descendants, including 14 original ones, and 5 high-performance versions, known as the Ultimate Descendants, are added to the mix. Get set to meet them!

    PS5 Graphical features

Nevertheless, what we gamers are thrilled about are the PS5's never-seen-before graphical features. Significant effort has been invested in optimizing and augmenting the graphics quality specifically for PS5 since last year's Crossplay Open Beta.

First, Balanced Mode has been introduced to the graphics settings, a feature that was previously absent in the Beta. PS5 users are now offered the luxury of choosing from three modes: Fidelity, Balanced, and Performance, enabling a myriad of options based on player preferences.

Beyond that, they have employed the high-resolution shadow mapping technique, Virtual Shadow Map (VSM), after extensive optimization efforts, boosting the game's visual quality overall.

Last but not least, options for Ray Tracing and AMD Frame Generation have been added to the menu, providing choices for those who prefer superior visual quality or boosted performance. The future of gaming is here!
