Far Cry: New Dawn's Highwaymen Join XDefiant's Season Two with New Modes, Weapons, and Features

TL;DR: Ubisoft's season two of XDefiant introduces a new playable faction, the Highwaymen from Far Cry: New Dawn, known for their aggressive style and unique gadgets like the Scrap Turret and Saw Launcher. The Highwaymen feature a passive ability, Revved, boosting fire rate and reload speed upon kills. Season two also debuts the Bomb mode, a tactical gameplay resembling Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy, and a Battle Pass with three new weapons: PP19, L82, and SPAS-12. Additionally, private matches are arriving, alongside three new maps—Waterfront, Signal, and Air & Space. An updated Year One roadmap hints at further updates in future seasons, with a sneak peek play test set before the full season launch on September 24.

Introducing a New Playable Faction: Far Cry: New Dawn's Highwaymen

Ubisoft is delivering an exciting addition to the new season two of XDefiant. The gaming platform welcomes a new playable faction from the Far Cry 5 spin-off, New Dawn's Highwaymen. These characters, born from the dystopian after-effect of Far Cry 5, bring with them unique gadgets that embody their world's survivalist ethos. These include a Scrap Turret and a Saw Launcher which, coupled with their cocky and lethal demeanor, create an ideal choice for players who enjoy a bold, aggressive approach.

The Highwaymen's unique passive, Revved, enhances fire rate and reload speed with each kill. Their abilities include the use of a Scrap Turret, a 360-degree deployable weapon, and an M79 grenade launcher. Their ultra ability, the Saw Launcher, dispenses buzzsaw blades that bounce off surfaces, effectively eliminating enemies. These features are great for dealing with campers ensconced in confined areas.

Unveiling the Bomb Mode and Battle Pass Weapons

Ubisoft is releasing the much-awaited Bomb mode in season two. This mode, reminiscent of Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy, introduces a new level of strategy by eliminating respawns and obligating one team to attack while the other defends.

Apart from the new gaming mode, season two's Battle Pass is introducing three new weapons; the versatile PP19 submachine gun, the L82 light machine gun, and the SPAS-12 shotgun. These new weapons increase the possibilities of varied game play experiences, offering different styles of combat for players.

Private Matches and Upgraded Year One Roadmap

A fan-favorite request, private matches, is being introduced as a new feature as part of the XDefiant season two updates. This feature will allow players to try out the three new maps coming in season two, named Waterfront, Signal, and Air & Space, in a private setting.

Ubisoft has also updated the XDefiant year-one roadmap, hinting at additional updates in seasons three and four. Ahead of the full release on September 24, Ubisoft will hold a three-hour play test over an upcoming weekend to provide a sneak peek of this content-packed season two.
