Sorry to read this. Are there particular factors behind your decision?

I wish you the best for the future.

Thank you!  Overall, there is a lot to factor in.  Most of all, it is really the decline of esports and just year after year of discouraging FPS games being released that have killed the momentum and drive of the project here.  The Call of Duty has signed terrible exclusive deals so watching it is now a pain, the ESL has yet to even post a schedule as they are weeks into their league and so much more.  So sadly, after years of minor growth and now in an industry that I can't say I enjoy very much, it felt right to call it a day here.  It will truly be missed!

  2. Fallout TV Show Sparks Gaming Renaissance

The recent success of Prime Video’s Fallout TV series has triggered a resurgence in player numbers across multiple titles in the Fallout video game franchise. This surge in interest has not only revitalized newer releases like Fallout 76 but has also breathed new life into decades-old titles such as Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4.

    Fallout 76 Sets New Records

Steam data tracker SteamDB has revealed that Fallout games on the platform have collectively seen a significant increase in concurrent players since the debut of the Fallout TV show. Fallout 76, in particular, achieved a remarkable milestone by reaching a new peak concurrent players record of 39,455 on Steam, marking a notable resurgence in player activity even four years after its release.

    Fallout Franchise Dominates Steam Charts

The Fallout franchise has asserted its dominance on the Steam platform, with Fallout 4 emerging as the top-selling video game by revenue. Other titles like Fallout 76 and Fallout New Vegas have also seen a considerable boost in sales and player engagement, reflecting the widespread enthusiasm generated by the Fallout TV series.

    Bethesda Capitalizes on Fallout Fever

Recognizing the renewed interest in the Fallout universe, Bethesda has rolled out various promotions and sales across the franchise. Additionally, the announcement of a release date for the next-gen update of Fallout 4 has further fueled anticipation among fans. However, the delay of the Fallout London mod due to this update release schedule indicates the complexities of managing multiple projects within the Fallout ecosystem.

  3. Carolina Royal Ravens Withdraw as Hosts

The Carolina Royal Ravens have decided to step down from hosting duties for the fourth Major of the Call of Duty League 2024 season. This decision comes as a result of various factors, leading to a significant change in plans for the event.

    Shift in Venue and Format

With the Carolina Royal Ravens no longer hosting the Major, Activision has announced a shift in venue and format for the event. Instead of taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Major will now be held in Burbank, California. Additionally, there will be no live audience for the event, as it will be played behind closed doors.

    Rescheduled Dates

Due to the changes in venue and format, the schedule for the Major has also been adjusted. The event has been delayed by a week, with the first week of qualifiers now set to take place from May 31. The main finals are scheduled to occur from June 27 to June 30, providing teams with adequate time between Majors.

  4. Destiny 2 Reveals Comprehensive HUD Overhaul

The long-awaited overhaul of Destiny 2's Heads-Up Display (HUD) has been unveiled, promising significant improvements in clarity and functionality. With The Final Shape expansion set to launch on June 4, players can anticipate a revamped UI designed to provide better visibility of essential in-game information.

    Addressing Information Overload

Bungie, the developer behind Destiny 2, acknowledges the challenge of managing over 2000 player-facing buffs and debuffs within the game's limited HUD space. Until now, only four of these modifiers could be displayed simultaneously, leading to a need for constant mental juggling by players. The upcoming HUD overhaul aims to alleviate this burden by introducing new areas dedicated to critical information and weapon-specific modifiers.

    EnhancingDestiny2TheFinalShapeIntroducesHUDImprovements2.jpg.d931a5b88390ec46c7adea89c153d63d.jpg

Key Features of the HUD Overhaul

One of the most significant additions is the introduction of a critical information area, situated beneath the health bar. This section will display vital mechanics and modifiers relevant to endgame PvE activities, offering players crucial insights during raids and other challenging encounters. Additionally, weapon-specific buffs will now be prominently featured above the Super meter, enhancing clarity and readability.

    Visual Enhancements and Future Developments

Beyond functional improvements, the HUD overhaul introduces visual upgrades to enhance accessibility, particularly for colorblind players. Green buffs now feature a distinctive line weight at the top of their icons, while red debuffs are outlined with a similar weight at the bottom. Timers associated with modifiers have also been relocated for improved readability during combat.

Looking ahead, Bungie remains committed to further refining the Destiny 2 user experience. While the upcoming HUD changes represent a significant step forward, the developer continues to explore additional enhancements, including the potential introduction of new HUD channels in future releases.

  6. Price Adjustment: EA Play Subscriptions

Electronic Arts (EA) is set to implement a price increase for its popular video game subscription service, EA Play, effective May 10. According to a recent report by GamesIndustry.biz, the standard tier of EA Play will see a monthly fee hike from $4.99 to $5.99, with the annual subscription cost rising from $29.99 to $39.99. Similarly, the Pro tier will experience an increase from $14.99 to $16.99 per month or $119.99 annually, representing a $20 increment.

    Notification to Users and Implementation

Reports suggest that emails have been dispatched to existing subscribers, notifying them of the impending price adjustment. Interestingly, while the new prices have been communicated to current members, they have already been implemented for new subscribers. Screenshots reveal that the updated pricing structure is visible for the EA App, although the older rates are displayed for the Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox versions.

    Industry Trends: Subscription Price Shifts

EA's decision to raise subscription fees aligns with a broader trend in the gaming industry. Last year, Microsoft announced a price increase for Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, followed by Sony's announcement of a hike in the annual subscription cost for PlayStation Plus in September.

Background and Evolution of EA Play

Originally launched as EA Access on Xbox One in 2014, EA Play expanded its availability to PS4 and PC in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The service underwent a rebranding in 2020, merging EA Access and Origin Access Basic under the unified banner of EA Play. Unlike other subscription platforms, EA Play offers access to a curated library of games published exclusively by Electronic Arts, complementing offerings like Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.

As the gaming subscription landscape continues to evolve, EA's price adjustment reflects ongoing efforts to enhance service offerings while adapting to changing market dynamics.

Beware, for the Husk's demise may summon a Geist enemy, unleashing further chaos upon unsuspecting Guardians.

  10. Guardians, gear up for an exciting update in the Destiny 2 universe! The much-anticipated expansion, The Final Shape, is not only concluding the epic Light and Dark saga but also expanding your arsenal's capacity. Here's what you need to know:

More Room for Loot: A Vault Space Upgrade

Bungie has confirmed an addition of 100 vault spaces for all players, elevating the total to a whopping 700 slots. This upgrade, announced in the March 26 devstream, is set to accompany the Into the Light update on April 9, with the vault expansion following in June.

A Brief History of Vault Expansions

This isn't the first vault space increase we've seen. Season 17 saw a jump to 600 slots from the longstanding 500 since Forsaken in 2018. This change reflects Bungie's commitment to accommodating the growing arsenal of weapons and gear that Destiny 2 offers.

Strategic Stashing: Preparing for The Final Shape

With the new expansion, the need for a pre-launch vault purge is alleviated. Players can now look forward to stowing away new gear without the stress of making space, a stark contrast to the routine clean-up required during regular season updates.

For the Veterans: Managing a Full Vault

Even with 700 slots, seasoned players juggling multiple classes and their unique Exotic armor pieces might find themselves nearing capacity. Regular armor and weapon collections, including those with various rolls, contribute to a quickly filling vault.

    Community Tools to the Rescue

Managing your vault is made easier with community-developed tools like the Destiny Item Manager (DIM), which allows for efficient tagging and sorting of items. DestinyRecipes also offers a vault-cleaning tool that works in tandem with DIM, streamlining the decluttering process.

    Looking Ahead: A Smoother Transition

The additional vault space is a game-changer, easing the transition into The Final Shape and future updates. While manual deletion of gear remains a task, the extra slots mean less worry about your vault's capacity, though it's still wise to consider a clean-out before new releases.

Join the discussion and share how this vault space increase will impact your gameplay strategy in Destiny 2! 🎮

  11. Destiny 2's Innovative Update: Into The Light

The popular game Destiny 2 is set to receive a transformative update named 'Into The Light' on April 9, which promises to enhance the player experience significantly.

    Attunement System: Personalized Weapon Pursuit

A notable feature of the update is the introduction of the Attunement system in the new Onslaught mode. This system allows players to increase the drop rate for specific weapons they aim to acquire, offering a more tailored loot chase.

Hall of Champions: A New Social Space

The update will also unveil the Hall of Champions, a new social space where players can activate the Attunement for their desired weapons from the Brave arsenal, marking a departure from the randomness of previous loot drops.

Enhanced Onslaught Mode: A Player-Friendly Approach

With the Attunement system, the Onslaught mode becomes a more player-friendly environment, reducing the grind associated with weapon farming and providing a more forgiving experience compared to traditional Vanguard Ops or Gambit runs.

I think some of the media coverage linking violent crimes to videogames are using them as a bit of a scapegoat.

This is the real problem.  We aren't dealing with the real problem.

Every study shows that games, movies, music, etc. have little to no effect on a person's behavior and I don't know of any study that has shown games to be more influential than the others mentioned.  So what is the push to blame games?  Perhaps it is just easier to blame the "new" media forms than to fix communities and cultural norms.

  13. A Spooky Crossover Event

Destiny 2 is setting the stage for an exciting crossover with the Ghostbusters universe, introducing themed cosmetics that will thrill fans of both franchises. As the gaming world anticipates the release of the "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" movie, players of Bungie's popular game will get the chance to immerse themselves in the ghost-hunting adventure. Starting March 19, three days before the film's debut, Destiny 2 will feature a Guardian ship modeled after the iconic Ecto-1 car, a Ghost shell resembling the beloved Slimer, and a Sparrow inspired by the film's main antagonist.

    Anticipating the Cost

While Bungie has yet to disclose the exact price for these Ghostbusters-themed items, historical data from previous collaborations provides some insight. Players can expect the bundle to be priced between 2200 Silver (roughly $20) and 2800 Silver (approximately $30), depending on the contents and potential sales. This pricing strategy aligns with Bungie's approach to past packs, such as those inspired by "The Witcher" and other popular franchises.

    Unique Among Crossovers

The Ghostbusters crossover distinguishes itself from previous Destiny 2 collaborations by drawing inspiration from a movie rather than another video game, setting it apart from the likes of Kratos from "God of War" or elements from "Assassin’s Creed" and "The Witcher." Notably, this collaboration will not include Ghostbuster armor sets, focusing instead on the two vehicles and the Ghost shell. This decision may leave some players longing for a full Proton Pack or Venkman jumpsuit experience, but it still promises to add a fun, thematic layer to the game's expansive universe.

As Destiny 2 continues to explore pop culture crossovers, the addition of Ghostbusters-themed cosmetics enriches the game's world with a playful nod to the upcoming film, blending the excitement of ghost hunting with the thrill of interstellar adventure.

These abilities, ranging from removing walls to altering objects, are designed to complement all build types, with medium builds reaping the most rewards through tools like the Dematerializer and Data Reshaper. This innovative update promises to deepen the strategic layer of the game, offering players new ways to gain a tactical edge.

    Strategic Advancements and New Challenges

Season 2 not only introduces the Hacker Playstyle but also enriches the game with a new five-on-five mode called Power Shift, a League System for better skill-based matchmaking, and a range of rewards for climbing the ranks. Power Shift challenges teams to escort a platform through the battlefield under the threat of enemy interference, adding a fresh strategic component to the competition. Additionally, the introduction of the new map, SYS$HORIZON, set in a glitch-filled, neon-tinted city, further enhances the game's meta aspects, providing players with a unique arena for testing their newly acquired hacking skills and strategies.

Ready for Action: Weapons and Launch Details

Each build type receives specialized weapons to complement their abilities, from the FAMAS burst assault rifle for medium builds to the 93R burst-fire machine pistol for light builds, and the KS-23 slug shotgun for heavy builds. These additions ensure that players have the firepower to match their strategic prowess. As anticipation builds, fans won't have to wait long to experience the upgrades firsthand. Season 2 of The Finals is scheduled to launch on March 14, available for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam or NVIDIA GeForce Now. With its innovative gameplay features and enhancements, Season 2 of The Finals is poised to redefine the competitive shooter genre, inviting players to experience the thrill and strategy of the deadly game show in a whole new dimension.
