[Resource] The First Descendant: How Do the Game's Currencies Work?

The First Descendant: Understanding the Game Currencies

The First Descendant, released as a free-to-play looter shooter, might be overwhelming for new players, especially in understanding the unique implementations of different in-game currencies. These currencies are critical for unlocking various items and upgrades that significantly improve your gaming experience. To make matters slightly complex, the game developers initiated a rollout of free rewards as a way to compensate for the infamous Caliber bug. Our goal here is to help you understand every different currency in The First Descendant and their respective applications.

Overview of Currencies

The First Descendant incorporates five unique currencies at its launch, namely, Caliber, Kuiper shards, Gold, Supply Coins, and Bonus Coins. Each of these contributes to unlocking separate items, most of which are readily available by playing the game, while others may instigate you to use real money.

Caliber

Caliber is the prime currency in the game that you can spend in the in-game shop to buy a variety of items. These include limited-edition makeups and skins, unlocking new Descendants and their Ultimate variants, or skipping the routine grind. This premium currency is also essential for purchasing the Battle Pass, although its up-gradation rewards you with some Caliber in return. The quickest method to acquire it is by purchasing it with real money at the following prices:

  • 250 Caliber – $4.99/£3.99
  • 520 Caliber – $9.99/£7.99
  • 1060 Caliber – $19.99/£15.99
  • 2750 Caliber – $49.99/£39.99
  • 3920 Caliber – $69.99/£57.99
  • 5750 Caliber – $99.99/£79.99

Kuiper Shards

Kuiper Shards are another crucial currency vital for making your character more potent. Kuiper shards are spent to upgrade your Descendants and Modules. You can collect Kuiper Shards by defeating enemies and scrapping the Modules you no longer need.

Gold

Gold in The First Descendant serves to initiate Research tasks leading to new characters and purchasing various resources. It can be obtained via defeating enemies or completing missions and Special Operations.

Supply Coins

Supply Coins are the exclusive currency used in the Battle Supply Shop, containing exciting and rare items. You can earn Supply Coins by merely completing Seasonal or Weekly Challenges. However, you need to reach specific Season Levels to unlock the Shop's pages.

Bonus Coins

Bonus Coins, the second premium currency in The First Descendant, are useful for buying rare resources from the Bonus Shop, essential for character up-gradation. They can be obtained by leveling up the Battle Pass and playing regularly.

For popular characters like Bunny, Freyna, and Viessa, you need to collect and spend each currency judiciously. Keep an eye on the upcoming Season 1 as we might see the introduction of more currencies in future updates.
