Introduction to Character Prestige System in The First Descendant

Many powerful characters exist in The First Descendant, but reaching the maximum level with a Descendant does not mean the end of the journey. Just like the Call of Duty Prestige feature, it's possible to reset the rank of a Descendant and start afresh, maintaining all gained weapons and skills. This process, however, is crucial for achieving the best character build and unlocking their maximum potential. The following guide provides a detailed process on resetting your character to level 1 in The First Descendant.

Procedure to Prestige in The First Descendant

To Prestige in The First Descendant, you should use a Crystallization Catalyst on any Module Socket. However, keep in mind that this option is only available once you reach Mastery Level 7. On implementation, though your character's level gets reset to Rank 1, the capacity cost of any modules under the chosen Module Socket Type gets reduced by half. Follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Open the main menu.
  2. Select the 'Inventory' tab.
  3. Click on 'Descendant Module.'
  4. Select 'Module Additional Settings.'
  5. Pressed 'Assign Module Type.'
  6. Pick the upgrade slot and type you wish to assign to it.
  7. Finish by selecting 'Apply Socket Type' to use your Crystallization Catalyst.

Importance of Resetting Your Rank

Resetting your rank is vital for build improvement. Performing all the above steps will halve the capacity of any matching Module based on the type selected in step six. This can also be done on your weapons, reducing the capacity of their respective modules and resetting the gun's rank back to zero. Consequently, this allows for an extensive upgrade of your modules, significantly improving the buffs they offer. Significant build improvement can be achieved by spending Crystallization Catalysts on numerous Sockets with the same character, which would otherwise be impossible due to the capacity limit.

Acquiring Crystallization Catalysts in The First Descendant

Crystallization Catalysts can be obtained by conducting research with Anais or purchased from the store. We highly recommend using the Research method to secure one of these critical items. Visit Anais in the Albion and navigate to the Enhancement Material section of the menu, where you will need the following items:

  • Gold (187,500)
  • Murky Energy Residue (8)
  • Macromolecule Biogel (22)
  • Mixed Energy Residue (8)
  • Advanced Neural Circuit (18)
  • Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint (1)

These resources can be farmed with relative ease, mainly requiring the defeat of specific enemies in certain areas. According to the Research Request menu in-game, it takes approximately seven and a half hours to gather all required materials. While Prestiging and resetting a character's Rank is optional, it is only advised when you want to maximize your character build. Alternatively, you can focus on unlocking other Descendants and their Ultimate variants, or earning currency to acquire more skins for them.
